Jamie

Jamie's Story
My 5-year-old has always been a good sleeper but recently he has started to get out of bed shortly after we tuck him in. We have heard all of the excuses...'I have to go potty' and 'I'm thirsty'...etc. Each time that he wakes we walk him back to his room and tuck him in again. Some nights he gets up 4 or 5 times before finally falling asleep. I worry that he is not getting enough sleep as sometimes it's 10 pm until he's actually asleep. But short of locking his bedroom door I do not know what to do to get him to stay in his bed.

Karen - Mother of Three

Karen's Story
I had my first child in 2004. A beautiful baby girl. I had to return to work 3 months later. Because I did not have much time with my daughter and because I just could not listen to her cry herself to sleep, she slept in the bed with my husband and myself. In 2006 I had my second child, a sweet baby boy. And this past December I had my third child. Another sweet baby boy!

I am a stay at home mom now. I'm embarassed to say, because I never learned the art of setting a routine (and setting boundaries in terms of their sleeping arrangements) I have all three in the bed with me and my husband sleeps in my daughter's room. Realizing this is a seriously silly way to live, my husband and I are trying desparately to find a routine that works and get the kids into their own beds!

First Prize

Vicki - Mother of three in Massachusetts

Vicki's story
My son is eight and severely autistic. I have been trying to find schedules that will work to help him learn everyday routines. He responds very well to characters and charts. I was blown away when I found this web site. My son's name is Fox and I can't believe there's a chart with a fox doing these activities. I also have two daughters, one that is two and other nine and I'm sure they would get a kick out of Fox's schedule with a fox on it.

Second Prize

Kelly - Mother of twins (and expecting another set) in New York

Kelly's story
I am just now teaching my twins to sleep in Big Kid Beds! My kids are really set on a routine, but during this transition, the chart will help them see and reinforce the routine! I think a chart like yours will really ease the transition. I am also expecting another set of twins that will also benefit from this chart.
